As part of our community’s series of events celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we invite you to join us for a meaningful discussion of Call Me American: A Memoir, Abdi Nor Iftin’s gripping story of survival, hope, and the search for belonging.Iftin chronicles his childhood in war-torn Somalia, his fascination with American culture, and the perilous journey that ultimately brings him to the United States. His memoir offers a moving lens on resilience, justice, and the pursuit of a better future—values closely aligned with Dr. King’s enduring legacy.
All are welcome, whether you’ve finished the book or are simply interested in the conversation. Copies are available to borrow at the library.
