About our authors:
Mary Ann Cappiello is a professor at Lesley University, where she teaches courses in children’s and young adult literature, literacy methods, and more. In addition to her academic writing, she’s coauthored four professional books for teachers, including Reading with Purpose: Selecting and Using Children’s Literature for Inquiry and Engagement (2024) and Text Sets in Action (2021), as well as the historical essay “Searching for Dinah Tucke” in Ten Piscataqua Writers (2022). Her young adult narrative biography Portraits of Eleanor: Medieval Warrior Queen, which explores the myths and misinformation surrounding Eleanor of Aquitaine, debuts with Holiday House Books for Young Readers in 2027.
Tim Horvath is the author of Understories (Bellevue Literary Press), which won the New Hampshire Literary Award, and Circulation (sunnyoutside). His stories have appeared in journals such as Conjunctions, Ploughshares, AGNI, and Passages North, and he is a Senior Editor at Conjunctions. He teaches English at Phillips Exeter and Creative Writing in the MFA Program at Warren Wilson, and is working on a novel and a second short story collection.
Larry Daley is a children’s author/illustrator and freelance creative director in children’s media development. An alumnus of Warner Bros. Entertainment and DC Comics, Larry supervised major comic book brands such as Batman and Superman in film, television, toys and licensed publishing. His illustrative and written work is known for its quirky humor, playful characters, and exaggerated perspectives. His latest books include the picture book, FLOAT (Bookling Media 2026) and the middle-grade reader Robbie & George (Piscataqua Press 2022).
