In 2022, the Library was awarded a "Libraries Transforming Communities" grant from the American Library Association to support voter conversations about the availability of local civic information. The Library hosted three 90-minute conversations with Stratham voters in April 2022 to listen to how they get information about local elections and issues, what information they wish they had, and how access and participation could be made easier. The voters who participated in these conversations were deeply interested in making information more accessible and based on their input, the Library has created a collection of short-, medium-, and long-term project goals to enhance what is already successful and identify practical projects inspired by voter needs. This report was presented to the Library Board of Trustees and the Stratham Select Board in July 2022.

In 2022-2023 the Library is committed to:

  • Creating a central hub for a variety of civic information
  • Hosting Voter Information Night(s) with remote, streaming, and recorded options
  • Working with local and state representatives to connect more regularly with residents
